Thanks to all for your interest and your coverage.

Team Canada's two halfbacks, Jason Neufeld and Brian Davis, each scored clutch goals in the Penalty Strokes Shoot-out to push Canada to a win over Latvia in the 2nd place vs. 3rd place game at the 2008 B-Pool Men's Bandy World Championships in Moscow. This means Canada finishes with the silver medal in the B-Pool, with Team U.S.A. taking the gold and Latvia the bronze.

Neufeld and Davis's goals were complemented by two great saves by Canadian goalkeeper Michael Lintick and two missed shots by the Latvians, all leading to Canada's win.

Regulation time ended with a score of 1-1 with each team having scored their goal off of a penalty stroke. Canada's goal was from midfielder Brandon Ellement who continued his strong play through the tournament, leading Canada's offence all week.

Canada finishes their week with a record of 6 and 1 with their only loss coming at the hands of the U.S. The team returns home to Winnipeg on Monday, Feb. 4th.

The A-Pool final game goes on Sunday, February 3rd and features, as expected, Team Russia and Team Sweden.

  Additional Notes:
  1. Canada is in the "B" pool with Holland, USA, Mongolia, Estonia, Latvia and Hungary.
  2. The "A" Pool is made up of Russia, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Kazakstan and Belarus.
  3. Canada finished 2nd to the U.S.A. in the B-Pool World Championships in Stockholm in 2006.
  4. Team Canada is based out of the Sturgeon Creek Community Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
  5. Russia is a bandy power and, now, having won the rights to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, it is pushing hard to have bandy added as an official Winter Olympics sport.
