DIVISION 1 ALL STARS FALL TO TEAM CANADA
The first ever D-1 USA All Stars were downed by Team Canada
on Friday by the score of 5-0. The conditions were snowy,
but the match was quite competitive. The Canadians showed
more quickness at picking up loose balls and jumped off
to a quick 2-0 lead. USA keeper Chris Michaud of Hammarby
had several long throws to breaking forwards that nearly
resulted in goals, but the USA could not get one by Canada
keeper Thom Wynne.
The
14 man Team USA was represented by every team in the USA
Bandy League's Division 1. This rare international match
brought several USA league rivals together for the first
time and like the NHL All Star game across town, it was
clear alot of camaraderie and good will had been formed.
USA Coach Chris Halden indicated things went so well that
future D-1 all-star matches may be in the cards.
D-1
managers Todd Blackstone (Spanky's), Charlie Poey (Hammarby),
and Emmitt Mullin (Elsie's) all played in the match.
The
Match Player of the Game for Canada was Costa Choulakis
and for the USA it went to Aaron Allar of Kerker Bandy Club.
US

21st to participate in the 2004 B Pool Championships, along
with Hungary, Estonia, Belarus and The Netherlands.
Chris
Preiss and Steve Nelson led the way offensively for the
US. Canada played well, scoring the first goal of the match,
but the Americans' speed and experience proved too much
and by the end of the first half, they held a commanding
7-1 lead.
