November 10, 2008......,   Team USA hosts Team Canada in International Bandy weekend November 15. and 16, 2008..

United States National Bandy Team hosts the Canadian National Bandy Team at the Guidant John Rose Minnesota OVAL in Roseville on Saturday November 15, 2008 in an exhibition in preparation for the World Championships in Vasteras, Sweden from January 18-25, 2008.

There will be three exhibition games at the OVAL in Roseville featuring the Canadian National Bandy team, Team USA, and Minnesota Legends.   The first match begins at 4 PM on Saturday, November 15 and features the United States and the Canadian National teams.  This match will be followed at 5:30 by the Minnesota Legends facing additional players from teams in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Sunday morning at 8:30 AM the National Teams from USA and Canada will face each other again at the OVAL, in this annual exhibition.  All games have FREE admission and are open to the public.  The USA versus Canada game will also be broadcast on Local Cable Access, North Suburban Access Corporation (CTV), and live on the internet (www.ctv15.org), a historic first for bandy in North America.

The American Bandy Association and the United States Bandy League are hosting these games as the respective National Teams prepare for the upcoming bandy seasons, and the World Championships.  Bandy is a team sport played with ten skaters and a goalie on a soccer sized rink where players score goals with a stick and ball.  A cross between hockey and soccer, bandy is the fastest team sport in the world.  The United States Bandy League features former high school and college hockey players, in addition to many others who grew up playing on neighborhood rinks and ponds.   There are two divisions in the US Bandy League featuring five teams in the First Division and six teams in the Second Division.  Over two hundred youth players play in the Youth Bandy Program at the Guidant John Rose Minnesota Oval, including a group of U-16 aged players who have now made trips to Sweden the last two years. The elite Russian team, Dynamo Moscow, has been sponsor of three teams in Minnesota. Dynamo Duluth plays in the First Division, Dynamo Washburn play in the Second Division, and Dynamo Minnesota is made up of many United States Women's National Team players.

The 2008-08 season opened this past weekend, and continues with the North American Cup tournament this week with three games between 6 PM and 10 PM each night on Monday November 10th, Wednesday November 12th and the Championship Final will be played on Monday November 17th at 8:15 PM at the OVAL.
